Acupuncture is one practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves placing very small needles into points along the body.  Each point coincides with meridians to stimulate the body’s Chi.  Chi is the body’s life force and can be utilized to help the body heal or support vital functions.

Acupuncture can be used on many occasions, to help treat some systemic diseases, help with painful conditions and support the healthy patient.  We do not use acupuncture as a replacement for western medicine, but together, to get the optimal outcome for our patients.

Acupuncture can be used in many ways. Dry needling is the introduction of a small needle into certain acupuncture points and leaving them in place for a period of time. Electroacupuncture is where electrical leads are placed on the needles and small, non-painful electrical impulses are sent into the body.  Aquapuncture uses a small amount of liquid, sometimes essential vitamins or saline into the points to affect the body.

Dr. Thomas became certified in acupuncture in 2008.  She uses acupuncture, electroacupuncture and aquapuncture in patients with painful back injuries, arthritis, during rehabilitation after surgery, for wound healing, and occasionally to support patients with systemic disease.
